Swan-ky Third Birthday Party Soiree
In the world of toddlers, turning three is a HUGE deal. Turning three means your little one is now on the verge of leaving their babyhood behind entirely and becoming a full-fledged child with words, thoughts, and all their own feelings. It’s such an exciting time for littles and parents, so, of course, this big birthday should be celebrated in style!
Over the summer, Judy Jou contacted us to help her throw the most amazing birthday party for her soon-to-be three-year-old daughter, Caris. Judy is the owner and founder of Elestory, a boutique children’s clothing shop specializing in vintage styles and silhouettes for both daughters and their moms. For this party, Judy wanted to extend a helping hand to other small business owners like herself to collaborate and help promote each other’s businesses. Judy’s idea for a Swan-ky birthday soiree was so unique and adorable that we just knew we had to be a part of it!

For Caris’ party, Judy was inspired by her new line of Mommy & Me Swan Ballerina Dresses that come in pink, black, and white. The dresses were designed by Judy herself and had the cutest little swans embroidered all over the tulle skirts. While planning the party, Judy knew she wanted a simple boho chic look. To do this, she used her dresses as inspiration for the color scheme and set up the party area in a quaint garden that had a special meaning to her family. It was the same garden in which her older daughter had her eighth birthday and where she had held her pregnancy announcement for Caris!
To go with the boho chic design, Judy created her party area by laying out tons of fluffy white blankets and squishy pillows all over the grass in a secluded corner of the garden. Strung between the trees was a beautiful custom garland of dainty swans created by Hello Birdie Birdie. Caris and her friends enjoyed playing and dancing in a lace teepee from Mini Camp as well as with the custom swan dolls from Dainty Cheeks that wore tutus made from the same fabric as Judy’s swan dresses.
Initially, Judy was going to create a small table from a repurposed wooden pallet. However, as a mom of two and a business owner, things understandably got in the way. Instead, she reached out to Dani from Bush Acres, who handcrafted a small wooden picnic table that perfectly fit in with Judy’s boho design. Judy placed the table on the blankets so her guests could sit comfortably among the pillows while our Stars and Moon Pink Garland shimmered between the trees overhead. On the table, flower arrangements from Olive and Grace Stems sat in small glass jars decorated with a long white bow. The white and green flowers with just a couple pops of deep crimson were all the décor needed to spruce up the little table.
To continue building her tablescape, Judy placed a small white cake stand at the center of the table and filled it with cookies from 2 Create 4 Love. Of course, the cookies had to match Judy’s swan theme, so they were the most adorable little swans painted in either pink, black, or white royal icing to match the party colors.
For her place settings, Judy started with our Pink and Rose Gold Speckle Large Paper Plates. The pale pink of the plates was perfect for adding some color to the table without being too over-the-top. On top of those, Judy accented the plates with the Femme Small Plates, which were the perfect bold contrast to the soft pink plate beneath it. Each place setting was paired with a rose gold paper cup for some shine. However, our Ballet Pink Classic Party Cups would also look fantastic on this simple tablescape. Every cup held a black and white paper straw. Our Black Stripe Straws would be perfect here, or you can choose from our Memphis Pastels Paper Straws Mixed Pack, which features a variety of soft colors, all of which would match Judy’s table wonderfully. Wooden cutlery from our Woodland Wooden Cutlery set were neatly wrapped in a golden-flecked cream napkin to complete the table design.
Behind the table was an elegant gold tea trolley decorated with a sign from Tutram Creates and our Iridescent Light Pink Glittery Shining Stars Garland. On it was Caris’s beautiful birthday cake on a Peony Pink Melamine Cake Stand. This stunning cake was made by Birdie Bakery, and it featured contrasting black and white frosting dusted with edible gold leaf. At the front of the cake, white chocolate shavings created the feathery body of a swan with a piped white buttercream head and neck, complete with a tiny gold crown. When it came time to blow out the candles, Judy carefully moved the cake to the center of the table for Caris to blow out her Number 3 Sparkler Candle. Keep in mind, if your little one is easily startled by sparklers, our Large Swan Candle would be a great alternative.
Judy did such a wonderful job planning and designing this lovely swan-themed birthday party. Caris definitely had a great time, and even though she may not fully remember this party when she grows older, she’ll be able to look back at all the pictures to see how hard her mom worked to make her day as special as she is.
