Stay Wild, Flower Child Birthday Party
Take a trip back in time to the grooviest decade ever! Bela, our party friend and the owner of Bela’s Balloons, threw the most radical birthday party ever for her daughter, Aspyn’s, fourth birthday. When Bela chose a retro flower child theme for Aspyn’s party, she truly went all out for it. She designed the party in pink, yellow, orange, and white shades and included shag details for the perfect 70s throwback accents. There were good vibes for all in this 70s era flower power party filled with retro colors, flowers, and disco balls. All the little guests had a slammin’ good time at this Stay Wild, Flower Child 70s themed girl power bash.

Bela owns and operates Bela’s Balloons, a party rental and balloon decor design company that serves Visalia, California, and the surrounding area. She did not disappoint when it came to designing balloon garlands and decorations for her daughter’s party. An incredible balloon arch in theme colors stood above the dining table, and balloon garlands were draped around the party space and photo areas. A balloon garland even spiraled its way up one side of the bounce house that Bela rented for the children to enjoy. We were particularly blown away by the fantastic balloon peace sign Bela created for one of the photo op areas.
Although Bela designed the balloon decor herself with help from her company and staff, you can recreate similar balloon garlands for your own retro birthday party. Here at Ellie and Piper, we offer a wide variety of latex balloons in colors that would excellently match this 70s theme. Bela also used our Daisy Balloon Animal Kit to accent her garlands with balloon daisies which worked stunningly in this flower child theme. We also offer a Daisy Flower Shaped Mylar Balloon, which would work as well if you didn’t want to spend the time constructing multiple balloon daisies.
One of our favorite parts of this party was the Show Your Flower Power costume area. Bela used one of the wicker shelving units from her party rental boutique and turned it into a space where Aspyn’s guests could run over to the shelves and choose groovy accessories perfect for any flower child. We offer several accessories that would be great for a flower child costume area. The Blush Pink Kids Sunglasses and Kids Daisy Sunnies in peach and sepia work great as themed sunglasses and Daisy Alligator Hair Clips and Pink Blossom Crowns call to every little girl’s inner flower child. Bela decorated the unit with small vases of fresh yellow and orange flowers, yellow and white daisies, and peace sign artwork. Of course, a vibrant balloon garland also swirled around one side for extra pizazz.
Bela’s tablescape was an absolute sight to see. It sat beneath one of her incredible balloon arches and had matching shag tassel chandeliers hanging above it. Our Macaron Tissue Tassel DIY Kit would be another great option to hang above the dining table. Its subdued tones of red, pink, peach and yellow would excellently fit the 70s retro theme. Bela began the design of her dining area by laying out a long Persian rug. A wooden table sat atop it with comfy accent pillows that matched the color scheme as seating.
The table itself was an incredible flower power explosion. Bela used a crocheted white runner down the center of her table. Small peace and love model party buses were parked among shallow vases bursting with bunches of yellow, white, and pink flowers. Different sizes of disco balls were placed between the vases to draw the eyes and add just a touch of disco fever. Although smaller than the ones Bela used, our Party Disco Balls pack would be the perfect accent to any 70s themed table for a touch of glitz and glam. In addition, Bela sprinkled some retro magic with our Peace and Love Confetti.
Bela set each place setting by alternating pairings of our Deep Pink Simply Eco Paper Plates and Chartreuse Yellow Daisy Side Paper Plates with our Happy Yellow Paper Plates and the pink Pastel Daisy Paper Plates. We love how by simply switching colors of plates, Bela added depth to her tablescape. Each place setting was completed with Fiesta Fringe Cocktail Napkins and Light Pink Wooden Cutlery. The Daisy Paper Cups sat on top of fringe coasters and completed the adorable table settings.
Bela crafted a wonderfully flower power photo area that doubled as a display for her stellar retro-styled birthday cake. Balloons and flowers galore exploded around the peace sign and Stay Wild Flower Child backdrops that were just perfect for a 70s birthday party. The cake was nestled among the balloons on one a wicker table from Bela’s party company. It was frosted in colors that matched the party theme exactly. Butterflies, peace signs, and flowers were scattered across the top tier, while the bottom tier was the perfect copy of a funky 70s shag rug but in icing form. All in all, it was a cake fit for a flower child at heart.
Good vibes were all around in this 70s retro-styled fourth birthday party. Bela did a fantastic job bringing her Stay Wild Flower Child theme to life for her daughter. Aspyn and her friends had a wonderful time bouncing around and blossoming into their awesome flower child selves.
