Have you heard of a golden birthday? Nope, it’s not your 50th birthday like you might think. It’s a birthday trend that’s becoming increasingly more popular lately, having to do with the day you were born. It celebrates the age you turn the same number as the day you were born on. For example, if you were born on April 8th, your golden birthday would be the year you turn eight.

Our friend and fellow Ellie and Piper lover, Ashley, jumped on the opportunity to throw her daughter, Avalon, a fantastically glittery golden birthday for her sixth birthday party. Ashley filled the party space with balloons in white and gold with pink accents and made sure stars were shimmering everywhere to make the birthday girl’s special day shine.

Shining Star Golden Birthday Party Supplies

It’s no secret that we love balloons here at Ellie and Piper. Ashley set the scene of Avalon’s party using our Pink and Gold Balloon Garland to create the perfect backdrop for Avalon’s party. She used the garland kit to create a showstopping, beautiful arch above the cake table that doubled as a great photo backdrop. Our balloon garland kits are easy to use and come with a full set of instructions to make recreating this garland for your own party as simple as can be.

Ashley completed her balloon garland with a custom banner she had made just for Avalon. However, you could also use our Sparkling Gold Star Garland beneath your balloons to create a golden cascade of shimmering stars as a backdrop. Both would pair nicely with a garland of Gold Paper Stars and Tassels and Gold Sparkling Star Chandeliers because there can never be enough shining stars on such a special birthday.

Ashley kept the decorations for her party pretty minimal to let the gold stars and pink accents pop. For her table, she used a plain white tablecloth and a white crocheted runner. If you want to recreate this look but with a little more color, our Pink Ombre Table Cover paired with our Gold Stars Table Runner would be perfect - not too much color to be overbearing and the right sprinkle of lovely stars to make your table sparkle. She added a light dusting of star confetti as well for a touch of glitter. A pack of Princess Confetti would also fit in nicely on this table.

Ashley set up a starry-tiered stand with everything her guests would need to get ready for cake and dessert time. The bottom held napkins and cups in the party’s theme colors, and the top had Gold Star Straws and gold cutlery. For this party, our Pink Fringed Cocktail Napkins along with Pastel Pink Party Cups and White and Gold Cutlery would go perfectly with the colors and golden star theme. The middle tier of Ashley’s dessert stand was filled with delicious sugar cookies shaped like stars, sparkly 6s, and sunny sayings in gold frosting.

All of Avalon’s little party guests had their own adorable place setting at the table Ashley set up for them. We love that Ashley layered her plates with a star-shaped plate on top of a scalloped pink plate. Layering plates create dimension and depth on any tablescape - not to mention this pairing is incredibly cute. You can achieve a similar look by pairing our Baby Pink Star Large Paper Plates or our Ornate Blush Pink Dinner Paper Plates under our Gold Star Shaped Paper Plates. The colors match perfectly with this party theme, and the gold star plate will shine well over the light pink beneath it. Ashley completed her place settings with more pink napkins and gold cutlery. The cake Ashley made reflected the overall minimal design of her party. It was a simple white frosted cake on a white cake stand. We love how the stars look like they’re shooting out like fireworks from the cake. This is a very easy cake design that you can make yourself and easily personalize to your own taste.
