Let It Snow Indoor Winter Wonderland Birthday Party
When it comes to winter birthdays, celebrating can be a bit of a challenge. It’s too cold to go outside, and with the many holidays happening during the winter months, celebrating with friends and family can get a little tricky. However, one of the best ways to celebrate a winter birthday is to just embrace it! Even though it’s cold and dreary sometimes, winter is a beautiful season with magical snowflakes, glittering icicles, and funny snowmen.
Kelsey, one of our good friends and co-founder of House of Fete, did exactly that for her daughter Denver’s sixth birthday party. Kelsey held no boundaries while planning this gorgeous party. This party had it all, from snowflakes to wintery forests to snow globes! Denver’s birthday was filled to the brim with every ounce of winter magic that Kelsey could come up with for this amazing Let It Snow themed party.
Let It Snow Birthday Party Supplies
Kelsey set her Let It Snow party scene with a beautiful blue and white backdrop. The backdrop was created with numerous streamers cut to different lengths and arranged in an ombre pattern of white to blue to create an icy waterfall. To recreate a similar setting for your own party, our Matte Blue and Silver Fringe Curtain Backdrops could make a similar effect when cut to different lengths and arranged together. Kelsey added an extra bit of sparkle to her backdrop by including strands of silver stars falling along her backdrop as well as an acrylic “Let It Snow” quote sign. She completed the magical winter scene with an all-white Christmas tree decorated with dozens of shining Party Disco Balls.
We are absolutely in love with Kelsey’s table. She had a large organic wood carved table set before an ornate, pale blue couch, which was the perfect size for her three girls to sit in comfortably. Instead of a typical table runner, Kelsey draped strands of silver tinsel garland intertwined with bead strands in eggshell blue and white. Mini Disco Balls were placed throughout the garlands for a bit of glam. Tiny trees in shades of green and blue created a snowy forest in the center of her table, and majestic reindeer mini statues in matching party colors completed the winter table scene.
Kelsey really let her creativity shine when she put together the plates for her Let it Snow party. Inspired by her love of snow globes, she came up with the idea to turn every plate setting into a custom snow globe for each guest. She started with the Oh Happy Day paper plates in pool blue, teal, silver, and snow. Using paper cutouts of snow drifts, snowmen, snowflakes, trees, and disco balls, along with a light sprinkle of iridescent confetti, she created an enchanting snowy scene on each plate. The snow globe plates were completed with clear acrylic toppers to protect each perfect scene.
The plates were paired with themed napkins - a white napkin with a silver snowflake design and a blue napkin with Lorelai’s iconic “I smell snow” quote from Gilmore Girls. Kelsey matched the plates with Melamine cups in aqua, mint, navy, and ocean blue with silver foil party straws. Finally, every plate was topped with a white and silver fork for the plethora of desserts and snacks and a custom snowflake ornament with every party guest’s name printed on it.
Speaking of snacks, Kelsey’s food area looked like it came straight out of the Land of Sweets and was blessed by the Sugarplum Fairy herself. Intricate paper snowflakes hung above the tables, interspersed with sparkling disco balls and more silver tinsel garland. It was as if it were snowing inside the house. Kelsey draped a white faux fur throw over one table and strung a Silver Star Garland and a Silver Glitter Mini Flag Garland across the tables to bring the glitter of snowfall down to eye level. Matching trees and reindeer statues from her main table made their way to the dessert area to graze on all of the delicious treats.
For snacks, Kelsey laid out a beautiful charcuterie board filled with fruit, cheese, and deli meats, along with mini croissants and mini cinnamon rolls. There was also a bowl of savory crackers to pair with the cheese but beyond that, there were enough cookies to satiate any sweet tooth. Kelsey had beautiful macarons and sugar cookies in the shapes of snowflakes, snowmen, and disco balls laid out on multiple cake stands, plates, and even shelves. Our favorite has to be the functional snow globe sugar cookie customized with Denver’s name on the bottom and white sprinkles on the inside that jingled around when you shook it.
Denver’s friends had a great time with the hot chocolate bar that Kelsey put together. Kelsey hung a Baby It’s Cold Outside banner behind the bar with all of the steps to make the perfect cup of hot cocoa. There was a cake stand with adorable winter mugs decorated with scenes like Christmas trees, snow globes, snowy forests, and Papa Noel. We cannot get over the jug of Melted Snow, aka hot water for the cocoa mix. It’s just too cute!
Of course, no cup of hot chocolate is complete without marshmallows, and Kelsey was ready with an entire glass cookie jar filled with mini marshmallows. Right in front of that, Kelsey laid out a wooden tray filled with every hot chocolate topping you could possibly imagine. Not only was there milk chocolate cocoa mix, but there were candy canes, marshmallow snowmen, chocolate caramel spoons, rock sugar candy, chocolate sticks, sprinkles, and snowflake stirrers - all the fixings for an epic cup of hot chocolate.
If cookies and hot chocolate weren’t enough to fill you, Denver’s beautiful birthday cake certainly would! Kelsey had a stunning cake designed just for Denver’s special day. It was shaped like a snow globe to match the party theme and had a silver reindeer in a snowy forest painted in frosting on it. Chocolate baubles painted in edible silver leaf and little snowflakes decorated the sides of the cake and really made it come to life. Kelsey placed the cake on an overturned clear bowl filled with fake snow to really give the cake a true snow globe feel. More mini disco balls were placed along the cake tray to tie in the party decor, and finally, the cake was topped with Blue and Green Ombre Birthday Candles for Denver to make her wish on.
Kelsey had the guests sign a copy of First Snow by Bomi Park instead of a regular guestbook to commemorate this special birthday. It’s an adorable children’s picture book with simple but poignant illustrations recounting a little girl’s adventures in the first snowfall of the year. It was the perfect choice for her little girl’s Let It Snow birthday party.
As the guests were leaving, Kelsey handed out Silver Disco Ball Drink Tumblers. We love how versatile these tumblers are! They can be decorated to match just about any party theme. Kelsey decorated each tumbler with ribbons and yarn in matching party colors of blues and greens and strings of tinsel with tiny ornaments for her party. Every guest also received Frosted Snowflake Temporary Tattoos to bring a bit of winter magic home with them.
There’s no doubt about it that Denver had a fantastic time at her Let It Snow birthday party. Kelsey let her creativity loose and created a beautiful and unforgettable party for her daughter. This party is certainly one for the books, and Denver, her sisters, and all of their friends are sure to always remember this amazing day for years to come.
