Superhero Birthday Party Supplies
We're absolutely in love with the party that Ashley put together for Graham. It's easy to recreate with a bit of DIY to customize for your own child. Ashley transformed her dining room into a fantastic cityscape for Super Graham and his little brother sidekick to protect. She started by creating a city background complete with skyscrapers and a city skyline. You do this by cutting outlines out of poster boards or large pieces of cardboard if you have big enough pieces available. Ashley created dimension in her backdrop by using two layers of background. The first is a lower city skyline which she painted all black and cut windows in to really give it a city effect. Behind that, she made much larger skyscrapers which she kept white and drew windows and building outlines on.
Between the layers of her background, Ashley made an amazing balloon garland. We love balloon garlands here at Ellie and Piper, and we offer tons of balloon varieties for you to use to create your own garlands. Ashley used balloons in Watermelon Red, Opaque Pearl Ivory, Sea Glass, and Black. Balloon garlands look intimidating to create, but all it takes is some clear fishing line and command hooks to hang them. Pro-tip: use this electric air pump to blow up your balloons. It’ll save you time and energy! Ashley added two of our Lightning Bolt Balloons and a Black Jumbo Number 5 balloon to her background for an extra super superhero touch.
We love all of the vibrant colors Ashley used for her table. She chose to use two low plain white tables and pushed them together to create a long dining table for the kids. Monochromatic pillows surrounded the table in lieu of chairs. For her centerpieces, Ashley used small ceramic white vases and filled them with vibrant flowers. She picked flowers in true superhero colors: bright red and yellow roses, purple freesia stems, and blue hydrangeas interspersed with sprays of leaves painted black and white. Ashley stood action figures of all of Graham’s favorite superheroes between the vases.
Ashley found the perfect themed tableware for Graham’s party. Everything was perfectly superhero themed, right down to the plates, cups, and napkins. To create a table similar to Ashley’s, our Superhero Collection is complete with matching paper plates, cups, and napkins. Ashley layered her small superheroes paper plates on top of our Frenchie Striped Large Paper Plates in Cobalt Blue. Each napkin had a spoon and fork from our Black Assorted Cutlery Set. Ashley purchased reusable straws with Graham’s favorite heroes attached to them to complete each place setting and a superhero mask paired with every plate. We offer two sets of superhero party masks - one with metallic copper trim and another with lightning bolt designs and silver foil.
Before cake time, Ashley had a snack table ready if any of the little guests got hungry. She used wicker baskets that she already had on hand and filled them with individual bags of healthy chips and a plate of colorful candy cookies. Stacks of leftover plates, straws, and cups were available if any child or parent needed them. The table also had some superhero slap bracelet party favors for everyone to take home later. We love how inventive Ashley was for this party. Instead of buying extra decorations for every table, she used what they already had on hand. One of Graham’s superhero toy ships was placed on the snack table to keep it on theme.
The cake table was covered with delicious cupcakes and Graham’s birthday cake. Ashley decorated the dessert area simply by creating custom vinyl clings and attaching them to the mirror above the dresser she displayed the cakes on. We’re sure that Graham loved his custom superhero name displayed at his party, like his own Bat Signal. On the table, Ashley arranged cupcakes on a white cake stand and cake plate on either side of the overturned wicker basket that held up Graham’s birthday cake. The cupcakes were classic chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting, and each one was decorated with a different superhero plastic ring for the kids to wear. More of Graham’s favorite action figures stood to watch over his cupcakes so no evil villains could take them away.
Ashley knew that Spiderman was Graham’s favorite superhero. Of course, she had a Spiderman cake made just for him. It was a white buttercream cake with superhero themed colors piped all over the bottom, sides, and top. Little candy plaques were attached with a 5 for Graham’s birthday, and classic action sounds like Zap! and Bam! while a mini Spiderman action figure stood at the top of the cake in a classic Spidey pose. When it came time to blow out his candles, Ashley added five candles from our Tall Multi-Colored Superhero Birthday Candles box so Graham could make his wish.
Just in time for cake, Iron Man and Spiderman knocked on the front door to wish the birthday boy a happy birthday. Ashley did such an amazing job planning this party. It’s definitely going to become a core memory for Graham that he’s sure to remember forever.
