The holiday season is so filled with amazing festivities that it's almost impossible to decide where even to start when you're party planning. There are so many style options when putting together a holiday party, even if it's just a little get-together with friends and family you haven't seen in a while.
There are so many themes that would make absolutely amazing Christmas parties. You can go all sparkly white with a winter wonderland, exciting and colorful with a candy theme, or elegant and classy with a starry Christmas night – the possibilities stretch as far as your imagination can reach! To help get your inspiration flowing, our good friend, Rachel, who owns Oh My Darling Party Company, has put together a wonderful collection of holiday party theme ideas to get your inspiration flowing!
Candy Cane Lane Holiday Party Inspo
For this party, Rachel created an alternating red and white backdrop with some silver for a touch of glam. She used traditional candy cane colors to set the stage for this candy cane-inspired party. The Oui Party Christmas Fans would be another great addition to this backdrop for even more candy-like decor. One or two Pink Candy Cane Balloons would be another perfect add-on, and the pink would tie in the table decor perfectly.
Rachel set up a simple white table surrounded by plush pillows for her seating area. The tablescape she created is relatively easy to replicate for your party as well. Rachel used a small overturned wooden crate for her centerpiece and placed a pink Santa mailbox on top. She surrounded her centerpiece with the green and white variants of our Rainbow Forest Honeycomb Tree Decorations. For her place settings, Rachel used Color Blocked Paper Plates in Strawberry Pink and Light Pink topped with a striped Christmas candy plate that matched the Candy Cane Lane theme perfectly! Rachel finished each setting with White and Silver Cutlery for just a bit of glitter.
Every seat at the table was given a Papa Noel Santa mug filled with hot cocoa and a snowflake-shaped marshmallow. Our Snowman Marshmallows would also look adorable in these mugs and give each guest a reason to smile at all the happy little snowman faces. Rachel topped every plate with delicious custom Christmas cookies in Santa and little mitten shapes, candy cane paper straws, and a hot cocoa chocolate spoon. For an alternative to the chocolate spoons, you could also use our Sweet Holiday Marshmallow Stirrers that come in sets of three.
Swirls of Christmas Candy Holiday Party Inspo
Here's more adorable holiday party inspo of a Christmas candy theme that Rachel has put together. In it, she uses both her Santa Baby and Under the Mistletoe backgrounds that feature traditional Christmas colors like red, green, white, and gold. For this theme, Rachel has decorated her backdrop with a garland of matching balloons. She used all different sizes of balloons to create dimension in her garland. The garland is made out of red, green, and gold balloons that match her backdrops but mixed in pink and blue for a fun variation. You can recreate this garland using balloons from our latex balloon collection. The addition of green and red swirled candy balloons are perfect for this candy theme. Rachel even designed a mini balloon pedestal with extra balloons to help bring attention to her drink and dessert table.
For the beverage and snack area, Rachel used a tall red accent table. She made yummy Christmas cocktails for her guests to partake in and served them up in cute tumblers with Christmas carol lyrics written in pink and blue around them. You could also use our Christmas Confetti Stemless Wine Glasses, which amazingly match the decor and theme. She paired her drinks with naughty and nice cocktail napkins though the Party Deco Candy Cane Napkins might fit this theme even better!
Rachel served an amazing Christmas tree cookie cake on the Pink Melamine Cake Stand. It was three layers of sugar cookie with decadent buttercream in between. On top were red and green meringues, mini candy canes, and tiny snowflake-shaped sugar cookies finished with a scattering of Pass the Parcel Sprinkles. She laid out Forest Green Paper Plates and White and Gold Cutlery to serve with.
Elfin’ Around Holiday Party Inspo
If you’re a family who LOVES the Elf on the Shelf, this party theme is for you! Rachel based this theme around her Elfin’ Around backdrop, consisting of red, green, and white streamers with some metallic red thrown in for a nice pop. Her background is decorated with red and white tissue paper fans and felt snowballs and red and white mistletoe garlands draped across. You can recreate this look for your own party with the Believe Party Fans paired with the White Tissue Rosette Garland and the Festive Foliage Garland.
Not only would this theme be great for a Christmas party, but it would also work really well as a surprise Elf on the Shelf breakfast scene for the kids to wake up to. Rachel used a simple white breakfast table with matching chairs. Each chair was decorated simply with knitted Christmas stockings with a decorative ornament. The Elf on the Shelf takes center stage on the table surrounded with Party Disco Balls and Christmas confetti.
Rachel set her table with red paper plates similar to the Ornate Ruby Red Plates and Candy Apple Red Frenchie Striped Napkins. Each plate was dressed with handmade paper ornaments with the kids’ names on them. The plate settings were finished off with the festive Minglin’ Mini Holiday Light Tumblers in red and green. Atop the Yellow Melamine Cake Stand, Rachel served up a stack of mini pancakes topped with a custom “Oh What Fun” holiday cake topper.
Fa La La La Holiday Inspo Party
This party theme uses much brighter versions of holiday colors. Rachel’s Falalala backdrop features red, green, pink, and blue streamers with iridescent streamers interspersed throughout to add a glittery touch. She decorated her banner with a string of felt ornaments and our Pink Falala Christmas Banner. The Tinsel Christmas Tree Banner would also look fantastic against this backdrop and give it an extra sparkle.
On the table for this party set up, Rachel had Party Disco Balls centered over confetti that matched the backdrop. A bag of our Oh What Fun Christmas Confetti would be another great option with complementing colors to sprinkle over this table set. A Mint Green Paper Plate was layered under the Pink Christmas Tree Plate to create a dynamic place setting. Each plate had a custom cutout of the guest’s name placed along the edge as well. Rachel found adorable napkins of a squirrel with Christmas presents. However, our Fa La La Cocktail napkins would look just as amazing in this setup. Each napkin was topped with a dessert fork. Our Silver Glitter Plastic Mini Forks would fit in rather well. Finally, a Minglin’ Mini Holiday Light Tumbler completed the tablescape.
All is Merry and Bright Holiday Inspo Party
This Merry and Bright party theme is an amazing way to tie in colors into your Christmas celebration. It adds bright, exciting colors such as shades of blue, pink, yellow, silver, and gold into the traditional Christmas mix of red and green. Rachel had a custom banner created with the words “Merry and Bright'' and hung it in the center of her backdrop. Another option you could go with for your own party would be hanging our Jingle All the Way Felt Garland. Although it wouldn’t feature the party theme title, the Jingle All the Way garland has all the colors that match this party theme almost perfectly.
Rachel used a plain white coffee table surrounded by colorful plush pillows for her table set up. It’s the perfect height for the little ones to sit on the floor comfortably while still rolling around and having fun. Instead of a typical centerpiece, Rachel let her gorgeous cookie cake speak for itself. She placed it at the center of the table and surrounded it with Rainbow Forest Honeycomb Trees. Although Rachel only used the green and white trees, the pack comes in a variety of colors. You could add pink, blue, and yellow trees to your table as well to incorporate all of the theme colors on your table.
We love how Rachel set up her plate settings here. She alternated Kelly Green and Rose Pink Paper Plates and used them as chargers with a cutout of each guest’s name. She placed the Merry and Bright Christmas Plates on top of each and placed a beautiful pink frosted Christmas sugar cookie for every guest. She finished her table with Metallic Star Tumblers in silver and gold to go with each plate.
Oh What Fun Holiday Party Inspo
You’re definitely going to want to hop on a one-horse open sleigh to this frosty winter wonderland party! Rachel’s Oh What Fun backdrop features fringe streamers in beautiful pale blue, pink, white, rose gold, and silver shades. It gives off the feel of cold, shimmery icicles hanging down around you. She hung Light Pink Tissue Paper Snowflakes for extra wintery enchantment.
At the center of her table, Rachel placed a simple, two-tiered dessert stand and filled it with delicious cookies in fun Christmas shapes like snowflakes, mittens, gingerbread houses, and presents. Around the stand, she placed an assortment of Snow Covered Evergreen Trees and Frosted Trees to create the look of a winter forest on her table. To complete the snowy scene, she dusted the tabletop with a light sprinkling of Iridescent Confetti.
Rachel alternated between Mint Green Paper Plates and Soft Pink Dinner Plates around her table. On top of each plate, she placed a Vintage Tree Napkin and an additional cookie on each plate. White and Silver Cutlery and Papa Noel Mugs were paired with each place setting to complete the Christmassy theme. Every mug was filled with delicious cocoa with a fluffy marshmallow and decorated with a Christmas drink stirrer. Our Snowflake Acrylic Drink Stirrers would perfectly match this snowy theme.
BONUS: Pop Fizz Clink New Year’s Eve Party Inspo
Of course, holiday festivities don’t end right after Christmas! Just a week later, we ring in the new year. Rachel is prepared with the perfect backdrop for photo ops at your New Year’s Eve celebration. Bundles of shiny, glittery streamers hang down in an eye-catching assortment of gold, silver, and white. She decorated the backdrop with a stylish balloon garland made of black, ivory, gold, rose gold, and silver balloons. We love how Rachel used black starburst-shaped balloons to add some excitement to her garland. You can get a similar look by using a few of our Black Star Shaped Balloons.
No New Year’s celebration is complete without champagne. Rachel had a stylish bar cart decorated with Party Disco Balls ready with the bubbly. We also offer Mini Disco Balls that would be great for hanging off of flute stems or even over your party area. If you want a safer, shatterproof option for drinks, we offer Stemless Shatterproof Champagne Flutes perfect for enthusiastic toasting at midnight.
